âSome people in the world, as far as looking at admissions, think that [a low acceptance rate] means itâs a better quality school,â Graves said. âI just donât go with that. I just think it means a lot of people applied. Thatâs all.â
UGAâs admissions office isnât focused on decreasing the schoolâs acceptance rate, Graves said. He said the number doesnât take into account what the applicant pool looks like. âIâd be thrilled if we had less applicants, because it means less volume and [would] make my life a little easier,â he said.
The family of Central Coast woman Genene Norris, who died days after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine, describes its "profound loss". It comes as the TGA chief says investigations will reveal more details about the "atypical" case.
Because of the obstacles created by the pandemic, students at the University of Georgia have struggled to find valuable internships that typically provide career guidance, professional experience and networking opportunities.
Students are often tasked with scrolling through hundreds of job postings on websites, including LinkedIn, Indeed and Handshake, and making their resumes stand out among thousands of applicants.
UGA students shared four steps to take when finding an internship.
Apply to more than you think you need to
Emily Royal, a senior double major in advertising and interdisciplinary art and design, applied to 57 internships in hopes of finding one that would offer her a summer position. After not hearing back from many larger companies, Royal received an offer to work through the spring and summer as a marketing and communications intern for a bakery called Balkan Bites.
TGA
The TGA’s Vaccine Safety Investigation Group (VSIG) met late today and concluded that a recently reported case of thrombosis (blood clots in the arteries and veins) with thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) is likely to be linked to vaccination. VSIG reviewed a report about a 48-year-old woman who was vaccinated in New South Wales and admitted to hospital with an extensive thromboembolic event and thrombocytopenia (TTS) four days after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine. Sadly, this person died in hospital and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family.
This is the third Australian report of a case of TTS following the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The latest case was vaccinated on the morning of 8 April, prior to the decision by ATAGI and the announcement by Government that the Pfizer vaccine was preferred for patients under 50 years old. The first two cases are being treated in hospital and have been recovering well.

The WGA West has reached a big settlement with CBS over underpaid residuals for shows made available on the CBS All Access streaming platform from its inception in 2014.
The guild disclosed in a letter to members Thursday that it has negotiated a settlement worth $3.4 million to cover 62 series featured on the subscription streaming service that CBS unveiled in October 2014. The guild challenged the methodology that CBS used to calculate the residuals due to writers for episodes of new and vintage series. The settlement covers 2014 through the end of 2020.
